(MIAMI, Sept. 18, 2013) – On Tuesday September 17, the Board of County Commissioners presented Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) with a proclamation naming September 2013 Miami-Dade Firefighter Appreciation Month in honor of those who have dedicated a lifetime of service toward the betterment of our community.

This honor was sponsored by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for MDFR's 59 years of service collecting donations every Labor Day. The donations collected by MDFR firefighters go towards providing medical services at local clinics, summer camps, research grants, supports groups, and public education at no cost to local children and families.
